Privacy policy

Who we are. Business Connections (BC) is a Brisbane business networking group run by Glen Whistler-Carr (ABN 45 373 031 287). We meet fortnightly on Tuesdays at The One Mile Bar, 28 Logan Road, Woolloongabba. For privacy questions, email info@bizzconnect.com.au or call 0438 986 285.

What we collect.

• Messages through our website: your name, email address and message, and whether you’d like meeting updates by email.
• Visit bookings: your name, email address, the meeting you’d like to attend, and anything else you choose to give us (phone, business, industry, who invited you and notes), plus whether you’d like meeting updates by email.
• Members: your name, business name, business category, contact details, website and logo, and any photo or description you agree to show in our member directory.
• BizzConnect Tracker (members only): your login details, meeting RSVPs and check-ins, presentation roster, the referrals you pass and receive (including details of referred people that members enter) and the value of paid work you record.
• Photos and testimonials: we publish testimonials only with the person’s permission. We may take photos at meetings; tell an organiser if you’d rather not appear. We use an identifiable photo of you in promotion only with your OK.
• Website use: our website host’s statistics count visits without cookies and without storing your IP address. Our forms use Google reCAPTCHA to block spam, which checks information about your device and browser. Some pages play background videos from Vimeo.

Why we collect it. To reply to you, organise your visit, run the group and its meetings, run the Tracker for members, publish our member directory with each member’s agreement, and send meeting updates and news to members and to people who’ve asked for them.

Referrals. Before passing on or recording anyone’s details as a referral, members must ask that person first, tell them who will contact them and why, and share only what’s needed. If you’ve been referred and want your details removed, email info@bizzconnect.com.au and we’ll delete them.

Who we share it with. We don’t sell or rent personal information. Member directory details are published on our website with each member’s agreement. Referral details are shared with the member the referral is for, and can also be seen by the member who recorded them and the group’s organisers. We use service providers to run our website (Webador), email, spam checks and member records (Google), the Tracker app (Netlify) and website videos (Vimeo). We share information where the law requires it.

Information sent overseas. Our website host, Webador, is based in the Netherlands, and its published service providers include data storage in Ireland. Google may process information on servers outside Australia. Our other providers may also store information outside Australia.

Emails from us. We send meeting updates and news only to members and to people who’ve asked for them. Our emails tell you how to unsubscribe, and we act on unsubscribe requests within 5 business days.

Automated decisions. The Tracker shows members a leaderboard of referral activity. Decisions about who joins or stays in the group are made by the group’s organisers, not by the Tracker.

Storage and security. Your information is held by the service providers above. We keep it only as long as we need it to run the group, and take reasonable steps to protect it.

Access and correction. You can ask us for the personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it. You can also ask us to delete it, and we will unless we need to keep it. Email info@bizzconnect.com.au.

Complaints. If you have a concern about how we’ve handled your personal information, email info@bizzconnect.com.au. We’ll acknowledge it within 5 business days, look into it and aim to give you a written response within 30 days. If you’re not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Changes to this policy. We may update this policy from time to time. This version was published on 14 October 2026.
